In this special episode, I had the joy of sitting down with Aiko Okubo and her husband Hiroshi, who joined us as a translator, for a heartfelt conversation about the rise of homeopathy in Japan. Aiko opened up about her early doubts and the powerful moments that shifted her perspective—starting with a friend's healing and later, her mother-in-law’s search for alternative care. We explored the current challenges and quiet progress of homeopathy in Japan, from limited public awareness to the growing accessibility of remedies online. Aiko also spoke about blending traditional Japanese medicine with homeopathy and how both systems connect on a deeper, energetic level. Her passion truly shines through as she shares her mission to grow a new generation of Japanese homeopaths, inspired by her work in establishing Homeopathy Academy Japan alongside Dr. Ewald Stoteler.
Episode Highlights:02:51 - How Aiko discovered homeopathy05:35 - Homeopathy scene in Japan08:31 - Traditional medicine and homeopathy in Japan14:08 - Establishing a Homeopathy School in Japan21:27 - Future hopes for homeopathy in Japan24:17 - Advice for skeptics to try homeopathy
About my Guests:Aiko Okubo is a homeopath and principal of Homeopathy Academy Japan (HAJapan), where she leads with a vision to cultivate skilled and compassionate homeopaths. She emphasizes hands-on learning through small group systems, where students collaborate, review lectures, and practice real-world scenarios. This group-based approach not only builds practical skills but also creates a strong community of future homeopaths who support and learn from each other.
Under Aiko's leadership, HAJapan focuses on quality over quantity, selecting a small number of dedicated students each year. The academy integrates advanced training, mentorship, and opportunities for students to eventually become educators themselves. Aiko’s goal is to foster a generation of professionals who are both clinically capable and ethically grounded, helping raise the standard of homeopathy in Japan.

In this rich and eye-opening episode, we sit down with Ewald Stöteler, a veteran homeopath from the Netherlands and author of Hahnemann’s Homeopathy, to explore what it truly means to practice in alignment with Hahnemann’s original vision. Ewald takes us deep into the often-misunderstood world of miasms, challenging the common notion that prescribing the "right remedy" is enough. With clarity and conviction, he shares why understanding a patient’s inherited tendencies and historical disease context is key to unlocking real healing. His passion for homeopathy sparked in the late 1970s and shines through as he explains the importance of reconnecting with the foundational texts and applying them with precision. If you’ve ever wondered why some remedies don’t work the way you expect, this conversation will shift your entire approach.
Episode Highlights:04:04 - Ewald's Journey into Homeopathy09:38 - Explanation of miasms and disease tendencies16:27 - Development of LM potencies19:45 - Using multiple remedies and potencies22:29 - Overview of Ewald's book "Hahnemann's Homeopathy"25:58 - Using intercurrent remedies and nosodes27:36 - Relevance of Hahnemann's methods today31:16 - Complementary remedies and contextual Materia Medica35:10 - Three-way approach to prescribing38:21 - Prescribing multiple remedies in alternation42:14 - Ewald's teaching and education programs45:28 - E-learning courses on Hahnemann's homeopathy
About my Guests:Ewald Stöteler is a respected Dutch classical homeopath, author, and international educator known for his deep commitment to the original teachings of Dr. Samuel Hahnemann. Born in 1957 and originally trained as a nurse, Stöteler turned to homeopathy in the late 1970s, inspired by personal experiences in oncology care and a desire to find more holistic healing approaches. Over the past four decades, he has dedicated his career to studying and applying Hahnemann’s Organon of Medicine and Chronic Diseases, with particular emphasis on LM potencies, miasms, and precise posology. He is the author of the acclaimed book Hahnemann’s Homeopathy, which offers a detailed guide to understanding and implementing Hahnemann’s full therapeutic model.
Stöteler is known internationally for his clear, structured teaching and his ability to bridge theory with clinical practice. He has taught extensively in Europe, Japan, and beyond, emphasizing what he calls the "Contextual Materia Medica" and disease classification based on Hahnemann’s original frameworks. As the founder of the Samuel Hahnemann Foundation, he continues to train practitioners in what he views as the purest form of classical homeopathy. His work has significantly influenced a new generation of homeopaths seeking to return to the roots of the discipline while applying it effectively in modern clinical settings.
